Legendary Vintage Cars - for the collectors
June 25th 2009 01:43
A fully restored Delahaye 135 MS, worth an estimated 400,000 euros, which was a powerful race car and among the fastest in the world in 1938
Well you know my interest in starting a collection of vintage cars, well it seems I am not doing so well with my duties as the local Squire, so all I can do at present is to look and learn.
However, I have received a certain amount of acceptance from Mother for the idea and a very large slab is being laid at present to provide the necessary garaging, but may I suggest it will be quite some time before we get this project up and running.
I have been rushed off my feet due to mother's fatal decision to have my learn the staff rostering system, which I proudly put up on my computer, much to the distaste of the staff, I might add.
Well, after a week of starting the day with dinner, have cake and tea for lunch, sweets only for tea and the pantry supplies swelling daily due to misuse as I had all the wrong staff coming in at the wrong hours and when we received just a boiled egg for tea one night instead af the usual large three course meal, Mother exploded at my imcompetence and told me in no uncertain terms what a fool I was.
Well, I'm one up on her, I already know that, so she allowed the staff to go back to doing things their way until I've got my outside act together.
She threatens dire consequences if I should fail to deliver the goods given some more time and sent me back outside again, to attend to the usual farm duties at which I'm becoming quite good, not good enough for Mother, of course, but certainly good enough for me.
Did I tell you we have some horses in on agistment and that's the closest I've come to being able to have our own stables, but Mother, being the competent horsewoman she is, is favourably disposed to the plan which needs to be along term one she tells me giving her most disdainful look. How she can put a man down, I think I can understand why my dad ran away, whoever he was, obviously someone who charmed Mother into bed illicitly, but Mother does always call herself Mrs. Fobbs, which is ridiculous, but who would dare argue with Mother.
No one around this neck of the woods I can tell you.
So this is just one other vintage car, which doesn't really appeal to me a great deal, but what do you think of it?
Sorry, I have to rush outside but them's the rules round this place.
