The new $2500 car - can't you just see it crush in a crash?

June 3rd 2008 23:23
New tata

After yesterday's excesses I thought you'd like to see the other side of the coin.

What a little cheapie, but are such things possible, wonder what it will sell for over here.

I think I'll stick to the Rolls.

But, we of the aristocracy always have to accept that everyone is not so well off as ourselves and cannot afford expensive cars.

Incidentally some of the aristocracy are not well off at all, having had the family fortunes mortgaged to the hilt to support the untold excesses of their ancestors, "keeping up appearances" so to speak.

I wonder how many people in the UK will be able to get these even if they wanted them.

Incredible what poverty and 3rd world ingenuity can come up with, makes the big car makers look a bit sick doesn't it?

Would you like one of these to drive, I think it would be fun on the quiet roads around the estate, beats walking or the pushbike don't you think?

It would get around the duties much faster, I'm getting a little worn out looking after my health and the environment.

But to-day I was shown all sorts of funny things, graphs and stuff on the farm manager's computer, everything planned to the last seedling it seemed.

It was interesting, especially as one day it will be all my own, but that is a lifetime ahead of me and in the meantime I am still being familiarised with the running of the Estate.

My little blog is not being rushed, I wonder what the delay is, not enough readers in the UK, where I feel more at ease with my own kind, rather than the convicts offspring. No wonder you all seem to be so touchy.

Well, you know how it is, another day, another dollar, but not around this little globe it seems. My God, how the money does NOT roll in.

Well, looking forward to some nice little visitors, come on, make my day.

Yes fobzy I have heard of these cheap cars, just what the world needs more highly polluting cars on the road.... this is definitely a step forward for poor people who could never afford a car and a HUGE STEP BACK FOR THE PLANET.....

and on the $$$ front, lucky you don't need them to roll in

Without really wanting to be on Louie's bad side, if your cheap little car can do 30 plus kms to a liter, I just might cast my vote for it Fobzy. Beats driving those big tickets that make you feel like you're buying the whole gas station everytime, rather than just the gas.

I used to bike (bicycle) to work MWF when work was just 40 kms one way. But work and home are now separated by some 120 kms (one way), so a car that's a bit bigger than my matchbox models might help.

Well said Louie, walk everywhere yourself, do you?

Newbie, congrats on the cycling, that'll please Louie, but you've made a good point about your current needs, how do you feel about the VW, see my latest post.

I thought of you when I put it up, but I do realize you're in a different country.

What would be your choice for your own circumstances, if you give me a name, I'll put on a post. Others may like it too.

My own circumstances? That would be a tough one Fobzy, I'm not like you who is looking at a big inheritance (probably a Lordship, or a Throne too! ) so my requirements would be very hard to come by. But, if you insist, we can start with a car that run on pure solar power (that seems to be the only source of free energy that we are not going to run out of any time soon), maybe we can trim down the panels so that the car will not occupy a four lane road on its own (exaggerating), I can settle for a top speed of 160 kph, but the car price must not touch the moon.

Thanks for the thought, and the offer to post one that might be within my means, but I think I better stick with the Matchboxes for the time being. That VW would cost upwards of US$25,000.00 around here. Your Tata car would be the closest to my needs but it has to be truly gas efficient. A motorcycle can go 30kms/liter. I'm not sure if the car can do better.

I do drive a 4x2 truck capable of around 11 kms/liter courtesy of my day job. I use it to go home on Fridays (I come back Mondays), but the price of oil that goes up every week (which has everything: from food, groceries, transpo, rentals, etc in tow) is killing me!

The $2500 car is SO much uglier then the one you have pictured. Oh and if the Rolls gets too thirsty, perhaps a team of horses at the front and sit the chaffeur on the bonnet. Giddy up!
