funny how so many of these cars are now GREEN!
As if the colour matters, in supporting the environment. Still they do make a point as every advertiser knows.
Apparently a competitive glut on all the new small cars due out next year. Sounds good for the consumer, even though gasoline prices are expected to stabilize.
According to Reuters and USA to-day, General Motors, Ford and other automakers are rushing to launch new fuel-efficient small cars and electric vehicles in 2010 to meet tighter fuel economy standards in the United States and attract buyers that have gravitated toward smaller cars. If too many of the small cars hit the market at once, it could lead to discounts.
Michael Robinet, vice president of forecasting at CSM Worldwide, said if gasoline prices are steady from today's levels of under $3 per gallon "extreme pressure to channel smaller vehicles in the market due to CAFE and emissions standards will raise incentives and lower profitability."
Under the new government rules, automakers are required to raise their fleetwide average to 35.5 miles per gallon by 2016. Automakers are downsizing cars and making engines smaller. Around the world, automakers and governments are spending about $428 billion a year by 2020 to make more ecological cars, CSM said.
GM is launching the new Cruze compact, and Ford has a small Fiesta. Mazda will bring in its smallest model yet, the Mazda2. Other automakers have similar plans.
The heat is on as the old saying goes!
God bless y'all as the southerners say, and that goes for fobzy too.
