Scar worth $100,000 given away!

HISTORICAL MOMENT: Jim and Merle Montgomery sign over their 1912 Scar to the Northland Vintage Car Club, as witnessed by mayor Morris Cutforth, right. The Scar, insert, is one of only four left in the world.





Jim and Merle Montgomery handed over their 1912 Scar car, which was once owned by the Weaver family in Whangarei.

Scar stands for Society de Construction Automobiles de Reims and the car was imported new from the French city, arriving in Grahamtown, now Onerahi, in January 1914.

But the vintage car club plans to get it back on the road for its 100th birthday next year and put it on permanent display.
