Hot Cross Buns and Fish for Good Friday, Easter Eggs for Easter Sunday, RIGHT?

March 18th 2008 21:49
Easter

fobzy here

Tradition. I know not many of you here believe in that sort of thing. But I do. Born and bred in the best British Tradition.

Religion. With guilt I put nothing here. Surely some will do it on Orble. Not that I think there's much money in Easter for me and I haven't noticed that it features strongly in any list of key words, which are as variable as the weather.

But, I would have thought by now that it would have got a mention here, somewhere.

So fobzy, that's me, is starting the day in a very traditional way.

It's hard, because ever since we hadn't recovered from Christmas there have been those big bags of Easter Buns sitting in the supermarkets, ready to be shoved down the nearest gob, with no thought of the cross that they bear.

Similarly with Easter Eggs, more than enough for those chocolate fixes required.

Maybe the super religious and the Catholics will eat fish on Good Friday, preserving the day free of meat.

The rest of you will chuck down anything that tastes good, helped down the digestive system well lubricated with any booze that's available.

But as so many have forgotten what Easter is all about that is if they ever knew, here's just a culinary little reminder.

Not much moolah in this, I think. But that's not what fobzy's mind is on at the moment.

So how many Easter Buns have you chewed up since Christmas, the Super Markets will not sell what you do not buy, so don't blame them.

Let's eat our way through religion, that's a good thought for the day, don't you think.

On with the main show later in the day.

So how do you celebrate Easter and what do you celebrate?

fobzy's search will continue on.

Awesome Dudes tradition is a BBQ in the backyard, with a whole lot of lamb chops sizzling away and snags too... yeah and no rabbit food either, and plates, you dont need plates, just a big pile of meat on a tray and everyone stands around eating from the tray... kinda like a pig trough.

does this make me a pig?

Humph - this topic is a little sore for me right now. Upon asking my mum why going to a Catholic morning mass should prevent her from having a BBQ lunch with my in-laws, I was promptly given a lecture about Easter being a time to renew your faith to God and how I should have known that since I was educated in a catholic school from the time of kindergarten. Grr...
