My next little recession proof business - non-designer label lingerie.
May 14th 2008 01:09
Well, I never thought, as a male, I would be writing about lingerie. But, it seems, in times of recession, with limited budgets, ladies and girls give the designer labels a miss, going for the less luxury brands, which, while in no way being able to be described "no frills" can indeed be bought at cheaper prices but still displaying much of the lovely scanties, panties, briefs and bras, which the ladies love and which gentlemen, even the best of them, such as myself, like to take off.
It follows with preservation of their dollars in mind the businesses which manufacture, provide and sell such items are seemingly recession proof.
This is a time when Ebay may also be expected to do well although why anyone would want to buy such items, some of which are known as 'seconds' , sight unseen and certainly garments untouched except by the hands of those not wearing them ( hopefully) so girls if you are not too fussy and have price in mind buying on line may well preserve your hard earned dollars.
Now, if you're looking for a job, which you want to keep and not be dismissed summarily from, if the going continues to get tough, and presumably if you are unemployed and find it necessary to make a living, you may well do well by keeping these recession proof little businesses in mind.
When the recession is over, of course, you may well want to move on. And I guess there are jobs for guys in these industries too. Lots of businesses do require some male strength, if nothing else, to support their products.
So that's my little bit of business advice for to-day, if only I could improve my knowledge a bit I could well become known as the finance guru, but, down on the farm, the birds sing, the cows moo and life goes on.
There's a lot to be said for being born into a wealthy family, even if one doesn't have a dad.
I'm off to share breakfast with my Mum, she's the boss, holds the purse strings, you know.
It will be fresh 'free range' eggs, our own cured bacon and a wide range of fruits, all prepared and presented by our very capable staff, it's a hard'n'uff live, as l'il Orphan Annie, was known to sing to us.
Now, musicals, that's another recession proof activity, when times are tuff they've still got the music in you.
See you again soon. From down on the Farm.
