Orble another GREAT DEBATE - Audi vs. BMW
June 17th 2009 02:40
Well you know me, fobzy, it's no use asking me to engage in a debate, I could not debate my way out of a big hole, the best I could do would be to get up after tripping on a gopher hole.
But the debate is on, one of my commenters has stated don't even look at BMW go for Audi - he was smart, he chose RED, always a winner.
I don't ever remember seeing a red BMW but I'll see what I can find.
The 2009 Audi TTS Roadster will have a 0 to 62 mph acceleration time of 5.6 seconds and the same, limited, top speed of 155 mph.
The consumption of the 2009 Audi TTS Roadster is rated by Audi at 29.3 mpg.
And Audi says
272PS and standard magnetic ride system for the most performance-focused TT to date
New even higher performance version of acclaimed TT sports car available in Coupe and Roadster body styles
Debuts at the North American International Auto Show on January 13 and is expected to open for UK order in mid-2008
Powered by an extensively modified version of the 2.0-litre Turbo FSI petrol engine delivering 272PS and peak torque of 350Nm between 2,500 and 5,000rpm
Coupe (manual) 0-62mph in 5.4 seconds, limited 155mph top speed, 29.7mpg, Roadster 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds, limited 155mph top speed, 29.3mpg
Suspension, steering and brakes revised to complement enhanced performance
Standard Audi magnetic ride adaptive damping system for optimum handling composure
so how do they compare, well that's too much for this pea brain.
But let's look at some features, performance, comfort, driveability.
They both look OK to me, but it's you the reader who is doing the debating, let the old Sebastian out. I'm just the messenger, and I did do well finding a red BMW

Let's compare technology... BMW have been struggling for years to get the driver interface, iDrive system to work - Audi on the other hand have the ingenious MMI system that couldn't be easy to operate. And when your flying down the auto barn, it's nice to know you have systems in place that wont distract you from the road.
Now let's also look at Audi's engines. Audi are consistently raising the bar, producing engines with more power and lower fuel consumption. Let's take the new 3.0l V6 Supercharged unit found within the S4.
The previous S4 had a 4.2litre V8 pumping out 245Kw and 410nm respectively. Now they have not only reduced the capacity in the new engine, but also drooped 2 cyclinders. The new 3.0l V6 unit has been fitted with a small supercharged (between the V) and is producing 245 kW and 440 Nm at 2,500 rpm. This means the new S4 shoots to 100k/h almost a second quicker than the old model!
The new V6 manages to deliver an outstanding fuel usage of just 9.7 litres - compared to 13.3 litres for the old model - a marvellous achievement!
Sadly, BMW are lagging behind, still relying on larger capacity units to produce the power. Audi also have the benefit of owning Lamborghini, which in resent years has surpassed Ferrari as the most desirable Italian super car marque.
By the way Fobzy, can I just ask - are you a guy or a girl? Cos punk, men don't write about cars the way you do... so I think you must be a chick.

as for your last, totally inappropriate comment, I'm about to become a DAD and no-one has ever laid that on me before.
I guess you're just not used to the British Aristocracy and the way we express ourselves but I can't say I find that in any way female, unless you're a girl, of course.
Enough said, call me a Pommi Bastard if you must, ant that's true, but forget the rest of your offensive remarks.
You certainly do know your audis and I suspect that the self credited great debators around here just don't know their cars.
Enough said, why would a girl run a car blog, call me sexest, I like it that way.

Such a brave "man".
Yeah, your such a woman! And, if you're 'British' how come I can trace you're IP to Australia? P.s. don't bother changing it; I've got your MAC id as well, fake!!
